- Contact information: Mobile number, email address, residential address
- Financial information: Highest education, occupation, employer, source of income, banking details (bank, account type, account number, branch code, debit order date)
- Insurance-related information: Cover type, cover amount, details of existing or lapsed policies, intended beneficiary details
- Dependant information: Names, dates of birth, ages and relationships of insured lives (spouse, children, parents, extended family)
- Usage data: The stage at which you used our quote engine, which insurers were compared, and which plan was selected
3. Why We Collect Your Information (Purpose)
We collect and process your personal information for the following lawful purposes:
- To provide you with a funeral cover insurance quote tailored to your needs
- To compare insurance products from our accredited insurer partners on your behalf
- To process and submit your insurance application to the selected insurer
- To generate and deliver your Disclosure Letter, Record of Advice and formal Quote as required under the FAIS Act (No. 37 of 2002)
- To communicate with you regarding your application, policy status, and related matters
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations as a licensed FSP
- To maintain records as required by the FAIS Act and POPIA
- To improve our services and platform
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal information on the following legal grounds:
- Your consent: You have given explicit consent by ticking the consent checkbox on our quote engine
- Contractual necessity: Processing is necessary to prepare and submit your insurance application
- Legal obligation: We are required to collect and retain certain information under the FAIS Act, POPIA, FICA, and other applicable legislation
- Legitimate interest: To operate and improve our financial advice and application services
5. How We Share Your Information
We may share your personal information with the following parties, only to the extent necessary:
- Accredited insurer partners (Old Mutual, AVBOB, Assupol Life) — to process your insurance application and issue your policy
- Our compliance officer (Moonstone Compliance) — for regulatory oversight and compliance monitoring
- Technology service providers — who host and operate our platform under confidentiality agreements
- Regulators and authorities — where we are legally required to do so (FSCA, SARS, Information Regulator)
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.
6. Sharing with Alternative FSP Partners
If your application cannot be processed by any of our accredited insurer partners, we may contact you to request your separate consent before referring your details to vetted partner FSPs who may offer alternative cover options. This referral will only occur with your explicit, separate consent and will never happen automatically or without your knowledge.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal information for the following minimum periods, as required by law:
- Quotes and applications: 5 years from the date of the quote or application, as required under the FAIS Act
- Policy records: For the duration of the policy plus 5 years after termination
- Lead records (abandoned quotes): 12 months, after which they are anonymised or deleted
8. Security of Your Information
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These measures include:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) on all our platforms
- Secure database storage at Teraco data centre, Johannesburg (POPIA-compliant infrastructure)
- Access controls limiting who can view personal information within our organisation
- Regular security reviews of our systems and processes
9. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Right to correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Right to deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations
- Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances

11. Children's Information
Our quote engine collects date of birth and name information for children who are nominated as insured lives on a funeral policy. This information is collected solely for the purpose of calculating and processing the insurance application, with the consent of the policyholder (parent or legal guardian). We do not collect this information from children directly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable legislation. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
